In this video, we’re going to talk about abdominal pain that radiates to the back.

There are different situations that can happen—you may experience abdominal pain on the right side, left side, or center that can refer pain to the lower back or even up in the upper back or your shoulders.

If the pain is going to the right side, it’s usually more liver-related. This can happen because of a problem with the gallbladder, bile duct, or liver. It could be a gallstone or a blockage.

On the left side or center, you are likely looking at a pancreas-related situation. It could be a situation called pancreatitis. Symptoms of this include:
1. Upper abdominal pain
2. Upper abdominal pain that radiates
3. Upper abdominal pain that worsens after eating
4. Nausea
5. Tenderness
6. Bloating

The most common causes of pancreatitis are alcohol, gallstones, or high calcium levels. 30% of the time, there’s an unknown cause for pancreatitis. One article suggests it could be primarily bile sludge.

The cause of bile sludge is cholesterol buildup due to low bile. The best solution to this problem is to take bile salts.

On top of using bile salts, you also want to address the underlying cause of low bile. Causes of a bile deficiency include:
• Low-fat diets
• High-carb diets
• Poor microbiome
• Fatty liver
• High estrogen
• High cortisol

Healthy keto and intermittent fasting are the best way to combat these issues.
