In this video, we’re going to talk about bile salts, and I want to explain why 95% of your bile salts are recycled. There is this idea that the gallbladder is not needed. Bile is also often misunderstood, underrated, and ignored. I believe the gallbladder is very necessary. It concentrates bile so the bile can create the effects it needs to.

Your body recycles bile because it is vitally necessary and important. The body recycles bile 6-10 times per day. Your liver makes bile (primary bile salts), and your microbiome also makes bile (secondary bile salts).

Six important things bile does:
1. It helps you absorb fats
2. It helps you absorb fat-soluble nutrients
3. It can help prevent SIBO
4. It helps regulate cholesterol
5. It can help rid toxins and poisons
6. It can help with the immune system

If you don’t have enough bile or it’s not being recycled, here are a few things that can happen:
1. High cholesterol
2. Gallstone formation or sludge (this can cause pain and even pancreatitis)
3. Low vitamin A, D, E, K, and K2
4. Low omega-3 fatty acids
5. You’re not satisfied after meals
6. SIBO
7. Constipation
8. Hypothyroidism
9. Toxic liver
