Summer Days Take A Holiday

Warm rays of summer are chilled by blustery winds of the North.
Leaves pale to yellow, tucking a bit of sunshine for a dreary day.
The ground is dank with rains that pelt the hills and vales of life.
An apron of warmth is removed, and donned is autumn’s cloak.
A paintbrush strokes vivid colors of demise across the land.

The air once alive with the buzz of bees and chirping of birds
wails with remorse as it readies for quiet to rule the forest.
The candle burns down as leaves swirl and dance a dirge.
The seasons battle once more as light and dark vie for power.
Fallen leaves form a burial shroud as nature settles the till.

“Autumn wins you best by this its mute appeal for its sympathy to decay” –Robert Browning
