WHY THE CHASE 5/24 RULE IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!

REASON #1: I missed out on so many great Chase offers.
- Chase Sapphire Reserve: 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points
- Chase Sapphire Preferred: 80,000 – 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points
- Chase Freedom Unlimited: $200 cash back + 5% groceries for 1 year
- Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier: 100,000 Rapid Rewards points
- IHG Rewards Club Premier: 150,000 IHG points, $50 Statement Credit, Annual Fee waived in Year 1

REASON #2: I missed out on so many great offers from other banks while waiting to get below 5/24 again.
- Citi Premier Credit Card: 80,000 Citi ThankYou points
- Citi Custom Cash Card: $300 cash back
- Delta SkyMiles Platinum: 90,000 Delta SkyMiles
- Capital One Savor: $500 cash back
- Capital One Venture: 100,000 Venture Miles

REASON #3: I’m 100% blocked from all personal credit cards from all banks, no matter how much I want them.
- Chase Sapphire Preferred (waiting for an 80K+ welcome offer)
- IHG Rewards Premier (new version coming soon, plus an IHG Business card)
- Frontier Airlines World Mastercard (helpful to maintain elite status)
- Capital One SavorOne (awesome for dining & entertainment purchases)
- SoFi Credit Card (excellent 2% cash back credit card)
- Sonesta World Mastercard (great hotel credit card)

REASON #4: When below 5/24, Chase business cards ought to be prioritized (if eligible) before personal ones. This is because in order to get a Chase business credit card, you must be below 5/24 to apply and get approved, but if approved, it will not count against the 5/24 Rule.
- Example: You’re at 4/24, apply & get approved for a Chase Ink business card, and you’re still at 4/24 after.

REASON #5: A Chase business card I want isn’t available. I’m considering the Chase Ink Business Premier card, which was supposed to launch in late February 2022. The landing page showed a countdown timer, and when it expired, the landing page was changed to say, “Coming Soon.” It’s now been 3+ weeks with no news.

REASON #6: I’m a (reasonably) good customer, but that doesn’t matter. I currently have 5 Chase credit cards on the personal side ranging from 3+ years to 7+ years of account history, 3 Chase business cards, a checking account & a savings account (both personal). Despite a strong overall banking and card relationship, none of it helps you get around the Chase 5/24 Rule.
