Moving Our Farm 700 Miles | It's a Dream Come True | Moving to Our Off-Grid Homestead

Philip purchased the farm that we now call Kowalski Mountain in 2016. He dreamed of a place where he could hunt, farm, work the land, and build a home he was proud of. In 2018, Philip met Barbra-Sue and together they began to put in the needed infrastructure to move to the farm full-time over 700 miles away from our home in Florida.
Kowalski Mountain has been built on what we call Workcations. It was like a vacation, we were working to build our farm instead. With a goal of making our big move debt-free, we spent years paying off the property and other personal responsibilities to make Philip's dream a reality. Finally, 7 years after Philip purchased the first piece of Kowalski Mountain we are moving to the homestead. This my friends, is our LAST Workcation.
As we take this giant leap forward, we share our feelings and thoughts about this dream finally coming true. We share the advantages of waiting and building slowly. We share some of our weaknesses at this point even still. Plus we give some tips to those who might be dreaming about their own homestead and how you can prepare NOW, even before you own land.

Philip dreamed of a place where he could build a self-sufficient life. A little piece of land where he could hunt, work the land, and build a home that he could be proud of. His dream began to become a reality when he purchased the first 40 acres of Kowalski Mountain in 2016.
I met Philip online in 2018. I grew up on a small, hobby farm. While I loved the outdoor lifestyle, I was stuck in my urban life far from my roots and the lifestyle I loved.
Its hard to deny that Philip and I were meant for each other. We make a great team! We seem to be able to accomplish more than the average couple in record time. Since our Kentucky dream is built in short workcations, our ability to get things done is a huge asset.
This is our journey, the victories, and the challenges.
