Many people believe that a lack of calcium in your bones causes osteoporosis. But, there are a few problems with that viewpoint.
People with osteoporosis are at a greater risk of fractures. However, when you start taking calcium, your bones become denser, but you don’t decrease your risk of fractures.
A high amount of calcium in your coronary artery increases your risk of a heart attack. A high CAC score (coronary artery calcification score) is actually one of the best predictors of a heart attack. By dumping more calcium into your body, you could worsen the situation.
We need calcium. But, it’s important to get calcium from the diet, not a supplement. Certain minerals don’t exit the body easily. By taking a calcium supplement, you could end up with excess calcium, which can lead to certain problems.
Problems associated with excess calcium:
• Arrhythmias
• Increased risk of stroke
• Increased risk of heart attacks
• High blood pressure
• Soft tissue calcification
• Kidney stones
• Constipation
• Depression
• Psychosis
• Abdominal pain
• Arthritis
• Tendonitis
• Bursitis
Top causes of osteoporosis:
• Steroids
• Low estrogen
• Phosphoric acid
• Low vitamin D
• Malnutrition
• PPIs
• Gastric bypass
• Malabsorption
Potential natural solutions for osteoporosis:
• Get your calcium from food
• Increase your vitamin D
• Increase your vitamin K2
• Increase your vitamin C
• Increase your trace minerals
• Get an adequate amount of quality protein
• Take betaine hydrochloride
