🎬VIDEO: Chase 5/24 Rule Explained: https://youtu.be/muJEN8C86JY

There's no doubt that Chase has some of the best credit cards you can apply for, so if you want one, why not put yourself in the best position possible to get it? :D Whether your goal is to create a Chase Trifecta of your own (i.e. 3 Chase credit cards that earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points in different ways so you can combine them all) and/or to get some of the best airline credit cards or some of the best hotel credit cards, Chase has a bunch of options - and this includes some of the best credit cards for beginners in their first year of building credit (however, for your absolute first credit card, it may be better to look to other issuers who may have easier standards, esp. if you don't have a banking relationship with Chase).

If you're interested in earning travel rewards and/or cash back from Chase while building your credit score along the way, this video should help you out. Let's begin!

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
You must be at least 18 years old to qualify for a Chase credit card (age may vary in select regions).

CHASE 5/24 RULE
Chase will automatically deny a credit card application if you’ve opened 5 or more cards with any bank in the last 24 months that appear on your credit report.

CHASE 2/30 RULE
You may get approved for 2 Chase credit cards in a 30-day period.

CHASE 1/30 RULE FOR BUSINESS CARDS (CHASE 1/30 GUIDELINE)
You may get approved for 1 Chase business credit card in a 30-day period.

CHASE 24 MONTH RULE | CHASE SAME CARD RULE
You cannot get a Chase credit card and signup bonus if:
- You currently have the same credit card open.
- You had the same credit card before & got a new cardmember bonus on it within the past 24 months.

CHASE 24 MONTH RULE | CHASE SAME FAMILY RULE
You cannot get a Chase credit card and signup bonus if:
- You currently have any card in the same brand family open.
- You had any card in the same brand family before & got a new cardmember bonus on it within the past 24 months.
- Does not apply to same-brand business cards.

CHASE 48 MONTH RULE | CHASE 1 SAPPHIRE RULE
You cannot get a Chase Sapphire-branded credit card and signup bonus if:
- You currently have any Sapphire-branded card open.
- You had any Sapphire-branded card before & got a new cardmember bonus on it within the past 48 months.

CHASE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF CREDIT CARDS | HOW MANY CHASE CARDS CAN I HAVE?
- No known limit.
- Chase may limit the total amount of credit extended to you across your card accounts.

CHASE CREDIT SCORE REQUIREMENTS | CHASE CREDIT SCORE NEEDED
- Not published & may vary by card. I’d personally want to have:
- 680+ for Chase-branded cards with no annual fee.
- 670+ for co-branded cards.
- 700+ for Chase-branded cards with annual fees.
- 700+ for Chase-branded business cards.

CHASE CREDIT PULLS / HARD INQUIRIES
Chase is known to do hard credit pulls for all new credit card applications, even if you already have a preexisting card relationship. (At the time of this video, Chase credit limit increases are usually hard pulls if requested, too).

WHAT I DO BEFORE APPLYING FOR A CHASE CREDIT CARD…
1. USE EXISTING Chase cards, keep balances low.
2. LOOK AT current balances. If any are high, pay them off.
3. IDENTIFY the type of card I want (e.g. co-branded, Chase-branded, personal, business).
4. CHECK if I’ve had the card before.
5. LOOK UP additional rules for that card; make sure I’m in compliance.
6. MAKE SURE I’m below 5/24.
6. APPLY!
