While searching satellite maps for rivers to paddle I came across the Blaeberry river near Golden BC. It looked great and checked several boxes: glacial fed, bright coloured water, some fun rapids, winding braids and gravel bars, in a landscape of Rocky Mountains, and long enough to do over several days. There were some unknowns too, like how much wood and trees in the water would there be? Is the water high enough, or would it be too high? Would the flow be very fast? Are there any hidden technical rapids that would sneak up on us?
We did portage around the two tight and dangerous canyons in the middle of the river, around Thompson falls, so we spent two days on the water and one day in the middle was spent shuttling and just enjoying this beautiful slice of paradise.
Thanks for watching!
