Matt's bipolar journey, part 2...
-he was better, following Stanford therapists protocol, but
-nothing stabilized his mood
-5 years gone, diagnosed with
treatment-resistant bipolar 1
"So, we were just supposed to accept it"
To that point: Matt had been
-treated by 41 professionals
-given 29 meds
Still had poor functioning cognition;
moods erratic; relationships dysfunctional

Fall 2020. heard about Steven Hayes, helped by
Dr Chris Palmer, Harvard...
-Had him on keto to address: obesity, addiction, & bipolar
"I told Matt about this, and he said: let's go"
-Dr Palmer agreed to help Matt pro-bono
-introduced us to Denise Potter & the
-Metabolic Psychiatry Clinic at Stanford

Jan 4th, Matt started on keto...
-had trouble sleeping at start; anxiety returned;
-told he had to ride this out, and he did
-Matt was completely committed
-March, no change in meds,
no mania, no depression
By May, no symptoms, just living his life
-attending classes; making friends...
"He was living a regular life...
we had not known if he would ever be
able to--stable mood day after day"
