Vehicle Crashes Off Highway 50 Following Suspected Carjacking Incident
SACRAMENTO, CA — Early Monday morning, emergency crews, including units from the Sacramento Fire Department, the California Highway Patrol (CHP), and the Sacramento Police Department, raced to the scene of a vehicle crash near the intersection of 28th Street and X Street.
At approximately 3:40 a.m., first responders were alerted to the incident where a vehicle was reported to have veered off Highway 50, plunging down an embankment and colliding with a tree. Radio transmissions further detailed that the car burst into flames following the impact in the vicinity of 28th Street and X Street.
Upon their arrival, emergency crews did not find anyone trapped inside the charred remains of the vehicle. The driver, who managed to escape before the crews reached the scene, was being attended to by paramedics. The extent of the driver's injuries remains unknown at this time.
Early information from CHP suggest that this dramatic turn of events may be linked to a carjacking incident, though details surrounding this connection are still under investigation.
