Historical Artist Mark Maritato works on a military uniform study painting of a union civil war soldier in uniform of the 9th New York Regiment. Known as the “Hawkins’ Zouaves. This study is a reconstruction based on Historical research of the uniform that was issued to this regiment in 1862 The painting is done in acrylic gouache on Strathmore bristol board.
