$10,000 is what you get when you sell a gold bar. In order to get a gold bar you need to mine gold from the gold mine located in the lower right part go the main island. You need 4 gold nuggets to take all the way up to the mid upper part of the island to the gold refinery. That is where you will the processing plant where you turn the 4 gold nuggets into a gold bar. After you have the gold bar it is just a long walk to the black market trader where you can sell that gold bar and get the sweet $10,000 for it.
I would reccommed to have some sort of vehicle as it is a very long trip to walk and as usual there is alway someone looking to make some easy money and get some easy gear. Be careful out there survivors and happy hunting!
