Amidst the ruins of a recent battle, Melchizedek, the enigmatic king of Salem and a priest of God Most High, approached Abram. He carried with him bread and wine, symbols of sustenance and divine fellowship. "Blessed be Abram of God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth," Melchizedek proclaimed. "And glory to God, who has vanquished your enemies."

With profound respect, Abram offered Melchizedek a tithe, a tenth of his spoils, recognizing the divine intervention in his victory.

As they spoke, the king of Sodom interjected, eager to strike a deal. "Keep the treasures, just return my people," he said, hoping to reclaim his subjects captured in battle.

Abram's gaze turned serious. "I've sworn an oath to God Most High," he responded. "I will take nothing from you, not even a thread or sandal strap. No one, but God, will have the claim to making me prosperous."

The only exception? The shares for his allies, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre, who had fought alongside him.

In this fleeting yet profound interaction, Abram not only honored God but also maintained his integrity, refusing to owe his success to anyone but the Almighty.
