Want me to tell you: How Science & Physics became entirely disconnected from reality, since the advent of Einstein's Theories of Relativity & Quantum Mechanics.

Well let's get into it: For the Mathematicians and Scholars of the past, first something was seen in nature, then the observed phenomenon was explained, through sound reasoning & logical deduction. In the days of old, that's fundamentally how science was practiced, because the other way around would just be seen as philosophy and religion, or blind faith.

At the time, it was commonly accepted that the Earth occupied the central position of the universe. However, Nicolaus Copernicus challenged this notion with his heliocentric theory, & instead proposed that the Earth revolved around the sun, instead of residing at the centre of the universe.

Although Copernicus was correct in his assertion, it was Johannes Kepler who went on to provide a more precise description of the planets' elliptical orbit, in a flat solar plane around the sun, using meticulous observations & mathematical equations.

Eventually, there then came Newton to build on their works with his own observations and equations, in fact he came up with an entirely new form of mathematics, with axioms specifically designed to not accept imaginary notions or infinities as an answer or end product, as he saw infinities as incompleteness, or as clear mathematical errors.

With these ideals Newton came up with the laws of motion and universal gravitation, which all fit in perfectly with 3 dimensional Euclidean geometry, and these works from Classical Mechanics are still the equations used, in present day, to get Satellites into orbit, or to get probes into space, to explore comets, asteroids or other planets.

Essentially, these laws and equations of Classical Mechanics are still unchallenged, when it comes to the actual practicality of space travel, where rate of change is important (as all these objects are collectively being towed across the galaxy by the overwhelmingly dominant gravity of the sun, which is defined within Newtonian Physics).
