California Crime Chaos: Are Radical Laws Encouraging Criminals

Crime is at record levels throughout the State of California. Many critics of the Golden State argue California is not livable anymore and the high crime rate is part of the reason why so many Californians are fleeing in record numbers. Los Angeles and the Bay Area, for example, are witnessing weekly smash and grabs and violent crimes as well as home invasions and car burglaries… the list goes on. Californians I speak to who were traditionally gun opponents, are now purchasing guns to protect themselves. And they are also adding bars on their windows, cameras outside and security iron gates to the perimeters of their houses to keep intruders out. Many LA residents I interview tell me they are worried that criminals seemingly have all the rights in this state and victims have none. They believe the perpetrator of the crime is now, the victim, due to what they claim, are Progressive and Liberal laws that have been implemented and enacted that ultimately protect criminals, whether these laws were set out to be well intended or not. As well, California residents tell me they are concerned that several California district attorneys seem to have taken an “anything goes” policy to criminal justice, where in the name of social justice, criminals are not prosecuted, and are let back on the streets to commit all kinds of crimes. These same people I interview claim that the no cash bail policy is also encouraging and protecting criminals. And they argue that even if city leaders implement things like a new “crime task force” for example, or a new “tough on crime” policy where criminals are going to be tracked down and arrested; the reality is, if these same criminals are not prosecuted, this is not a deterrent. Now I know this sounds harsh for many Liberals; however, facts are facts. As an independent journalist who reports without political bias, I can safely say that no matter how much some Democrats and the Far Left insist that crime is due to COVID or the pandemic aftermath, or that crime is just a Republican talking point, or that Conservatives are simply trying to scare people with a law and order agenda; the reality is that crime is spiking out of control. Just check the LAPD police blotters in Los Angeles or other police department blotters in similar cities throughout the U.S. You are going to find that the massive crime increase is something that seems to be getting further and further out of control. This is a sad state of affairs when people have to live in fear, and this same fear now rules their lives. So with that said, I decided to ask two California State Senators from different political parties about some of these concerns. This is reporter David Nazar and here is part of my interview with Democrat State Senator Josh Newman and Republican State Senator Scott Wilk.
