The Sun Isn’t The Villain We’ve Been Told

What if the sun isn’t the villain we’ve been lead to believe? 🌞

Sure it’s been shown that skin damage is induced by UV radiation, but what if the catalyst is what we’re actually putting into our bodies instead of directly the sun itself? It’s been shown that sensitivity to UV light increases with a higher intake of polyunsaturated fats found in soybean, corn, sunflower and canola oil (present in the majority of packaged foods and used in restaurants, pubs and cafes), which can therefore increase the incidence of skin cancer 🍕

It’s sounds crazy, but since embarking on this carnivore diet journey, my once translucent pasty white skin that burned within 10 minutes of sun exposure can now withstand up to a couple of hours in the sun without burning and without sunscreen. At worst, my skin turns slightly pink but is then tanned by the next day, without the multiple days of peeling, sunburn pain and oodles of aloe vera that was once the norm. I’m not saying that anyone should go out and overexpose themselves to the sun and cook yourself like your grandpa cooks his well-done steaks. But when I got rid of seed/vegetable oils from my diet and stopped lathering on the Banana Boat, me and the sun started getting along muuuch better 🤝

I kind of feel like we’ve been duped and that the sun is actually our providing pal and not the spiteful bully we’ve been told. I guess only time will tell… 🤷‍♂️
