How Thomas Edison is connected to Eastern Michigan and the solar eclipse

As we prepare to see the first total solar eclipse in nearly 40 years, there's a unique connection between Thomas Edison and Eastern Michigan University. Edison, who was not the household name he is now, borrowed a telescope from Eastern Michigan with a few of other scientists. to view the solar eclipse in Wyoming. That's when he also used the telescope to look for a theoretical planet he thought helped with the aura of Mercury.
