Hyper Light Drifter Montage 2021

This is a game I will long remember. It has such an outstandingly unique and super-specific aesthetic and feeling that is very well defined. It is as if the idea of a classic old arcade game was made with modern technology and taken to its full potential. It is a very rich game visually, and the music is superb. Besides Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, this may be the most atmospheric game I've ever played.

I discovered the existence of this game in 2016 through a short clip taken from the intro cutscene of the game that was used in a chiptune music track titled "Betrayal" by an artist named Nexsard. This montage itself is also partly inspired by the same amazing music track of Nexard's, for which I thank him for producing. The music track was amazing and I always wanted to play Hyper Light Drifter since then. Well, after years of waiting, I finally did play it in 2021. This was a very frustrating, beautiful, adrenaline-inducing, inspiring and memorable game.

Hyper Light Drifter is probably the most difficult game I've ever played. Even though once you learn the enemy patterns and discover the best methods of defeating opponents as well as gain the muscle memory, it becomes much easier and more fun, there are plenty of levels and boss battles that had me stuck for days on end when I played this. Also all footage used in this montage is from my first playthrough of the game. Because of that, you may notice my skill improve drastically by the end of the video and the game.

I enjoyed this game a lot and I sincerely hope the Netflix Series based on this game that is said to be in production will live up to this glorious masterpiece.
