Mortal Kombat™ 1 Chapter 5: Weird Science is the story of Baraka.

The Earthrealmers and Baraka are locked in a dungeon: Shang Tsung's true lab underneath the false front, where he indulges in many horrific and depraved experiments. Kenshi, now permanently blinded, is struggling with both his disability and the agony from his injuries. Syzoth, their jailer, visits the captives who gives Johnny medicine to relieve Kenshi's pain and reveals that he is only helping Shang Tsung because his family is being held captive.

He also reveals that he is a Zaterran, the only one of his kind that can change his shape, which Shang Tsung used to learn how to do so. Shang Tsung visits their prison and declares he will use their bodies for fatal experimentation, leaving no traces or evidence of them that will allow Liu Kang to retaliate. As he leaves, Syzoth unleashes a wave of ravenous Tarkatans on the prisoners, opening both cages to allow the prisoners to be devoured.
