Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine, announced that the use of armoured vehicles in Ukraine's battlefield has almost completely decreased and that these vehicles are only used for evacuation or rapid transport. According to Budanov, this situation is related to the threat posed to armoured vehicles by anti-tank minefields and FPV kamikaze drones.
However, Ukraine is planning to use Abrams tanks, which are expected to be delivered to Ukraine next week, specifically for use in breakthrough operations. These tanks should be used in very specialised and well-prepared operations, Budanov said. He said that the durability of these tanks would be reduced if they were used on the front line or in combined arms battles.
While Budanov said that the tanks would be used for special breakthrough operations in Ukraine, he denied reports that some armoured vehicles were destroyed near Mala Tokmachka in June. He emphasised that the number of destroyed vehicles was not very high and that many of them had been repaired.
