Dear Pastor Bob: How do we tell if a believer is using their spiritual gifts properly? It seems that many Christians misuse their gifts. They use them to edify themselves more than they use them to edify others. At least, it seems that way. And with other gifts, how do we know if they have a genuine gift, or if they are faking it? One such gift that seems to be abused is the gift of prophecy. There are a lot of self appointed prophets who seem to miss a lot of prophecies. If they had the genuine gift of prophecy, why would they have such a bad track record? What thoughts might you have on this?
