I do not feel there are mean or nice breeds out there. Now I do feel breeds can have certain tenancies and instincts that are stronger or weaker from breed to breed which can lead to unwanted behaviors such as bites and reactivity, but it truly comes down to how you raise your dog. For example a Cane Corso is going to have a stronger instinct to guard and protect what is theirs vs a beagle. With that being said I always hear people saying how Golden Retrievers are the nicest dogs, extremely friendly, would never bite etc. From my personal experience I have seen quite a lot of aggressive Golden Retrievers which is the complete opposite of what people think when they think of a Golden Retriever. Today we were at a dog friendly apple orchard and 2 off leash Golden Retrievers tried to attack our Cane Corsos. We were at least a thousand feet away from them with our backs to them so this was completely unprovoked. My Cane Corsos were not even looking at the 2 Golden Retrievers that ran up on us. I literally was just about to pull out my phone to start recording a walk and talk and this happened before I started the camera and I wish I captured it on camera just for a learning lesson for everyone including myself where I could re-watch everything frame by frame analyzing the situation.
