Learn How to Build Basement Walls with this Step-by-Step DIY Wall Framing Guide. Additionally, you will learn how to Frame basement walls around basement headers and columns. Learning how to frame a 16" on center (O.C.) or 24" O.C. wall is not very difficult if you have the right tools and knowledge. Below are the tools I highly recommend for Building Basement Walls:

- Framing Nailer: https://amzn.to/46gVoLo
- Air Compressor (for framing nailer): https://amzn.to/3LysDCe
- Framing Nails: https://amzn.to/3EMMIAC
- 6 foot level: https://amzn.to/3PORDYb
- Carbide Tipped Masonry Bit: https://amzn.to/460vcFi
- Tapcon Screws: https://amzn.to/45bgLgs
- Ramset Nailer (if desired instead of screws): https://amzn.to/45iZbHr
- Drill: https://amzn.to/47pEw6H

When adding a bathroom to a basement, a successful project starts with planning. It is very important to plan out the locations for all of the plumbing fixtures, and WALLS.

A basement wall consists of a top plate, a bottom plate, and the vertical studs in between. I recommend that you first mark the stud spacing (16" O.C.) on both the top and bottom plate. Next, position the studs in between the bottom plate and top plate and nail the wall together. I recommend two nails (3" or 3.5") at each connection point between the studs and the top and bottom plate.

After framing the wall, lift it up vertically and position it in place in the installation location. Next, attach the bottom plate to the concrete basement slab using a carbide tipped masonry bit to pre-drill and Tapcon Screws to hold it in place (A Ramset tool is also suitable for attaching the bottom plate to the concrete slab). Then confirm that the wall is plumb using a 6' level and then nail the top plate to the ceiling joists above.
