Megan Rapinoe and the USWNT are lying to you.

The United States Women's National Team (USWNT) is the winningest, most decorated international soccer team in the world. They've won 4 Women's World Cup titles and 4 Olympic gold medals. In fact, the US women's team has picked up a medal in every World Cup and Olympic tournament they’ve played in, aside from the 2016 Olympics and this year’s World Cup.

Such an impressive record places them in the 98th percentile of both women's and men's national teams, with the only other team to have won more World Cups being the men of Brazil.

Now, that all sounds impressive, but in spite of these achievements the US Women’s Team has been paid significantly less than the Men's Team for some time…at least until recently!

After plenty of lobbying and demands for equal pay, the Women’s National Team received a multi-million-dollar settlement in 2022 and the promise of an equal rate of pay going forward “in all friendlies and tournaments, including the World Cup."

Now, female footballers around the world are demanding the same type of compensation, but do they deserve it? Is there discrimination at play, or have the women managed to pull off one of the greatest lies ever sold? Let’s take a look at the facts!
