A simple guitar. One pickup. One lump of mahogany and 2 controls. You certainly won't get caught out with that tricky mid song transition to the bridge coil tapped humbucker and the neck pickup set to half way.

However, there are tones to be had and the 50's wiring is such that the range of the tone control varies with the volume position. More volume, more range. It's interesting to see how it thins out and thickens up depending on where you set them relatively.

made in 2019 in the custom shop, this is a faithful recreation of the entry level Gibson that rock took to its heart.

I swapped out the pots for a 500k Crazyparts SVT volume and a TVT tone pot. The former changes the range so the changes are not just bunched up between 7 and 10 and distributes it more evenly on the range and in a guitar like this it's important to have that range available.

I also used a Mojoaxe compensated bridge although the Gibson wraparound was actually intonating fine really!

I recorded this into my Carr Skylark with an SM57 and Rode NT1-A and Presonus audio interface and Studio One.
The amp was set quiet high and the internal attenuator used.
