2025 Ford Ranger Plug-in Hybrid
The Ford Ranger Plug-in Hybrid is an upcoming addition to the Ranger lineup, set to offer customers a combination of electric driving capability and the versatility and dependability associated with Europe's best-selling pickup truck. Production of the Ranger Plug-in Hybrid is scheduled to start in late 2024, with deliveries to customers expected in early 2025. This marks a significant step forward in Ford's strategy to provide a full range of powertrain options to customers in the mid-sized pickup truck segment, catering to the growing demand for electrified vehicles.
One of the standout features of the Ranger Plug-in Hybrid is its electric driving capability. It will combine a 2.3-liter Ford EcoBoost petrol engine with an electric motor and rechargeable battery system, allowing it to be driven in pure electric mode for a targeted driving range of more than 45 kilometers. This makes it well-suited for urban environments with low emissions zones, giving customers the option to drive without tailpipe emissions.
In terms of towing capacity, the Ranger Plug-in Hybrid is expected to maintain a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500 kg, which is consistent with the capabilities of the rest of the Ranger lineup. This ensures that customers can still rely on the truck for heavy-duty tasks and towing needs.
The Pro Power Onboard feature is another notable addition, enabling customers to power high-draw power tools and appliances at worksites or remote campsites by plugging them into power outlets located in both the cargo bed and the cabin. This eliminates the need for noisy and cumbersome generators, providing more space in the cargo bed for other equipment and gear.
In addition to its electric capabilities, the Ranger Plug-in Hybrid will retain the Ranger's proven four-wheel-drive off-road capability, selectable drive modes, and advanced driver safety and driver assist features. This ensures that the truck maintains its off-road prowess and overall versatility.
Lastly, customers of the Ranger Plug-in Hybrid will have access to the Ford Pro ecosystem, which offers solutions for charging, software, and services to support the transition to electric vehicles and help businesses thrive. This holistic approach demonstrates Ford's commitment to offering a well-rounded and capable electrified pickup truck option that meets the evolving needs of its customers. Overall, the Ranger Plug-in Hybrid aims to provide a best-of-both-worlds solution, offering zero-tailpipe emission EV driving for short trips and hybrid performance for off-road, payload, and towing capabilities.
