Stepanakert or Khankendi is the de facto capital and the largest city of the breakaway Republic of Artsakh, de jure part of Azerbaijan, located within the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
1. The situation in Stepanakert is tense, but there are no repressions by the Azerbaijanis against the civilian population. Despite the insignificant supplies of food and medicine, the city continues to live a normal life.
