Residents Wade Through Floodwaters in India | VOA News

Torrential rains and overflowing waterways flooded India's western Nagpur city Saturday compelling residents living in low-lying areas to flee to safer places.

Officials say disaster response teams have rescued 200-300 people after the city was hit by heavy rainfall of over 100 millimeters (4 inches) since early morning, causing the Ambazari Lake to overflow and flood the nearby areas.

Residents were seen wading through floodwater as vehicles, houses, and shops were partially submerged. Video showed a roadway collapsed following the continuous rain. (Reuters) #india #flooding
