Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is intensifying his efforts to secure support from allied countries in his ongoing war against Russia and has returned from his recent visit to the United States with great success. This visit brought critical results that could greatly enhance Ukraine's defence capability.
According to the information shared by Zelenskyy after his visit to the US, important arms agreements, including air defence systems, were signed as a result of negotiations with the US. Zelenskyy's statements are as follows:
"Our visit to Washington was very important and we achieved great results. We met with President Biden and his team and agreed on a new defence package, which includes critical defence equipment such as air defence systems, artillery, projectiles and engineering equipment. We also signed a long-term agreement that will allow Ukraine to co-produce these weapons with the U.S. This is a historic cooperation between Ukraine and the United States in the defence sector. This agreement will also create a new industrial base and new business opportunities for both countries."
Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine is preparing to create a joint defence ecosystem with the United States in order to protect its freedom and coexistence. This initiative will have positive consequences at the global level and will greatly increase Ukraine's defence capacity.
It was also stated that Oleksandr Kamyshyn, Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, signed cooperation agreements with three important associations. More than 2,000 American defence companies operating in Ukraine will contribute to the growth of cooperation.
