Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department spokespersons reported that officers responded to the incident near Rainbow Boulevard and Alta Drive shortly after 7:30 p.m. The explosion took place at a residence on Davenport Lane, causing significant upper body and facial injuries to a male victim.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue's bomb squad, in conjunction with LVMPD's ARMOR unit, is expected to conduct an investigation into the explosion. The ARMOR unit specializes in responding to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive incidents. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police indicated that the incident involved a possible pipe bomb explosion within a residential area in the western valley.

The incident unfolded at a home in the 300 block of Davenport Lane, near the intersection of Rainbow Boulevard and Alta Drive, shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Friday. A local resident, Lance Allen, described the blast's intensity, stating that it was unlike anything he had ever heard in his 25 years living in the area. He compared it to explosions he had experienced during his time in Korea and Vietnam, emphasizing the sheer loudness of the event.
