IWC Cal 853 Re-lume - Realtime 3.5 hours
In this video I spend 3.6 hours destroying an IWC Cal 853 automatic (Albert) Pellaton watch from the early 1960s while attempting to re-lume it.
Towards the beginning of the video I talk a bit about the ETA 2472 that I'm wearing in the video.
If this video is too long for you there's a cutdown version entitled, "IWC Cal 853 re-lume - realtime cutdown." The cutdown video is also realtime, but with long sections cut out. The cutdown is "only" 56 minutes long.
The idea behind this series is that realtime videos allow viewers to see how time consuming and difficult watch restoration work is - particularly if one attempts it with no training or experience. These are not training videos, they are about the joy of discovery and of making mistakes and the pain and comedy resulting from those mistakes.
My videos are not professional watchmaking videos.
