Makerere University is researching on the use of Artificial Intelligence in disease screening.

Makerere University College of Computing and Information Sciences has won 1.5 million USD, approximately 5.5 billion Uganda shillings from Google, to further research on automated screening of diseases using artificial intelligence.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance Dr. Aminah Zawedde launched the project at Makerere University and emphasized the need to harness technology to better the well-being of society.
