Whisky.com reviews the Dictador Rum Icon Reserve 12 years. The Colombian producer of Gin, cigars and coffee is best known for its rum. Dictador was founded in 1913 in Cartagena on the northern coast of Colombia. Great importance is attached to careful production and well-kept recipes, which are continued today by the third generation of the Parra family. This 12-year-old Dictador rum is made from the fermentation of pure sugar cane honey, which is distilled partly in Copper Pot Stills and partly in a Continuous Steel Column Still. The South American rum is matured in ex-bourbon barrels made of American oak and receives a subsequent finish in sherry casks.
