Hundreds of protesters gathered in the center of Yerevan on Wednesday, September 21, calling for Armenia’s military to intervene in Nagorno-Karabakh following dozens of deaths during the recent escalation.

Large protests in Armenia began yesterday after the Azerbaijan side started what it called 'counter-terrorism measures' and military action in the region. The government in Yerevan condemned the 'full-scale aggression', accusing Baku of attacking settlements.

Earlier today Azerbaijan and the Nagorno-Karabakh authorities, with the assistance of Russian peacekeepers, reached an agreement on the cessation of hostilities, starting at 13:00 local time (09:00 GMT).

The evacuation of the local population is currently taking place in the region, while a meeting of representatives of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan is also scheduled to take place tomorrow.
