My First Song | Tape Recording from 1998 | Electronic
This is the first song I ever recorded, back in 1998, when I was 14 years old. It's absolute trash, but I remember it being a great experience. My brother-in-law helped me out a lot, as I had no recording experience at all, and this was my first attempt at writing a song with no musical knowledge whatsoever. He was involved in the Sydney darkwave & goth-rock scene at the time.
My memory is hazy, but I'm certain the keyboard used is a Casio CTK-250 budget rompler. We recorded to a 4-track cassette multitrack(I think it was a Tascam), and used a Boss drum machine (I think that was DR-550). There was a cheap electronic percussion board used as well, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was specifically. We recorded that in with the drum machine in one take. Pretty sure the delay is a Boss guitar pedal. As previously stated, this is a terrible song, but a great first experience in writing & recording music.
