In the 15th century, King Marthius, dressed as a common citizen, bribes a judge. The Tartars return to the land, led by the wily Olaf. The empire of Austria-Hungary. The Bolsheviks try to conquer the Hungarian farmers.

Each episode of Ports of Call is a voyage to a different country where events of that country's history are dramatized. They each begin with a tramp steamer's whistle.
