On September 20, 2023, during The House Judiciary Committee hearing entitled "Oversight of the U.S. Department of Justice," Rep. Victoria Spartz criticized Attorney General Merrick Garland for prosecuting individuals at the January 6, 2021 Capitol protest, comparing the actions of the DOJ to those of the Soviet KGB.
