Megyn Kelly is not one of Donald Trump’s favorites in the media.

Kelly was best known for feuding with Trump during the 2016 election.

And Megyn Kelly admitted something about Donald Trump that she never told anyone before.

Megyn Kelly hosts one of the five most popular podcasts in political media.

With Trump running away with the GOP nomination the 45th president decided it was time to make some news.

That’s why, for the first time in seven years, Trump sat for an interview with Kelly.

Kelly admitted to Newsmax host Eric Bolling that Trump still harbored some resentment over Kelly’s first question to Trump when she moderated the first 2016 GOP presidential debate for Fox News.

At that event, Kelly asked Trump about comments he made about women in the past which Trump felt was a setup from higher-ups at Fox News to sandbag his campaign and to help Jeb Bush.

Trump then refused to appear at the final debate before the Iowa Caucuses because Fox News selected Kelly to moderate the contest.

Kelly told Bolling that deep down Trump respected her because she asked real questions and that Kelly respected Trump because he is willing to answer anything she threw at him.

“Anyway, it’s a little complicated, but I think we both respect each other,” Kelly stated. “Kind of like two silverback gorillas, right?”

“He knows, even though I like him, I have to ask him tough questions because that’s my job, and I know that even though he’s inclined to like me, he’s still ticked off about that debate question. So there’s a little friction behind our relationship, and I think it works on television, frankly. It’s a dynamic that works, and so at times it got a little contentious, but overall, I think we have a begrudging respect for one another. And as you know, as a journalist, I’ll take it. I’d much rather people respect me than love me, I’m not a politician, so that’s the game I’m in, and he did fine,” Kelly continued.

Kelly admitted their relationship would never fully heal because of Trump’s feelings about the debate question, but that Trump understood she was fair and not some Trump-hating fanatic like on CNN or MSNBC.

“I think we’re just in a better place. I mean, I think he’s never totally gonna forgive me because of the question. I don’t feel I have anything to apologize for, but I think he recognizes that, notwithstanding all that went on between us, that I have been very fair to him, and uh, while I’m not a sycophant for him or anybody else, I’m in the business of holding politicians to account, not pushing for them, not advocating for them. That’s not my role, it shouldn’t be anybody’s role who’s a journalist. He understands I don’t hate him, I don’t suffer from Trump derangement syndrome,” Kelly concluded.
