The Hooded Grebe is a small, flightless bird that is native to the remote lakes of Patagonia in South America. It is known for being one of the worst mothers in the animal kingdom due to its unique reproductive behavior. The female lays two eggs, but instead of incubating them herself, she leaves them to be incubated by the male. However, the male is not much better at parenting as he often abandons the eggs before they hatch. As a result, only a small percentage of Hooded Grebe chicks survive to adulthood.
