Exodus 10:21-12:13, When I See the Blood, I Will Pass Over You
Sept 17, 2023, S-1558-KL
After eight plagues, Egypt’s flocks, herds, and crops have been decimated, yet Pharaoh refuses to allow the Israelites to leave. The ninth plague, three days of total darkness, then descends without warning. Yet again, Pharaoh refuses, and the Lord tells Moses that Pharaoh will finally relent after the next and final judgment, the death of the firstborn. For those who obey God’s provision for escaping this judgment, the application of lamb’s blood on the lintel and doorposts of their homes, God promises, “when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt” (Exodus 12:13). Pastor Kevin discusses the prophetic significance of both plagues and specifically, shows how this first Passover foreshadowed the day, 1500 years later, when Jesus would become the Passover lamb for us.
Like the Israelites in Egypt, who miraculously had light during the three-day plague of darkness and obeyed God’s provision for salvation from final plague, people today are saved when by faith they receive Jesus’ blood sacrifice on their behalf and now walk in the Light of Life amid an increasingly dark world. That the Jewish people still exist and still observe the Passover as God had commanded testifies to the truth of the Bible.
