A maglev train with a maximum speed of 600 km per hour is currently on display at the 2023 World Manufacturing Convention which opened on Wednesday in Hefei, the capital of east China's Anhui Province.
In July 2021, a maglev train with a designed top speed of 600 km per hour, the world's fastest ground vehicle available, rolled off the production line in China. This April, the train has completed its first maglev operation.
During the ongoing World Manufacturing Convention, visitors can board the vehicle to experience the intelligence and comfort presented by CRRC Sifang, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chinese train maker CRRC.
Inside the driver's compartment is a panel with adjustable height.
"As this train adopts a full self-driving mode, the driver needs to do nothing but keep an eye on this panel to monitor the train conditions. At present, the research and development work of the maglev system has basically come to an end. We are currently conducting a field test on the maglev train at a speed of 430 km/hour in Shanghai. This system is expected to put into operation soon," said Zhang Zhiqiang, director of Maglev Research and Development Center of CRRC Sifang.
In the passenger compartment, the luggage racks are equipped with a facial recognition system. Visitors can try locking and unlocking their luggage with simply their face scanned.
Besides, visitors can adjust the colors of train windows besides their seat from light to dark.
In addition to the maglev train, quantum computers, rockets and other cutting-edge technologies are also being showcased during the five-day World Manufacturing Convention.
Held since 2018, the World Manufacturing Convention has attracted over 14,800 participants. A total of 3,021 projects have been signed, with actual investment exceeding 1 trillion yuan (around 139.3 billion U.S. dollars).
This year's convention runs through Sunday.
