Revelation 1:4 - John: To the seven churches in Asia. Grace and peace to you from the one who is, who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
Then John is told to write to who? The Angel - showing delegated authority and responsibility. “Write to the angel of the church in Smyrna: Thus says the First and the Last, the one who was dead and came to life:….then, “Let anyone who has ears to hear listen to what the Spirit says to the churches”

When we think about the churches, we see Christ as the King of Kings and we will consider if there are similar traits in any churches today how about any nations, communities, organizations, families, people

Christ loves His church (those that believe in Him and do the will of God) and always warns and rescues them from calamity.

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:17-18

The Letter to Smyrna
Revelation 2:8-11
“Write to the angel of the church in Smyrna: Thus says the First and the Last, the one who was dead and came to life: 9 I know your affliction and poverty, but you are rich. I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will experience affliction for ten days. Be faithful to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.
“Let anyone who has ears to hear listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will never be harmed by the second death.
