Tonight we'll start the doctrinal section of 2 Thessalonians. Paul needed to correct an error that had crept in at Thessalonica to the effect that the day of the LORD had come. This was certainly disturbing, so Paul gave an argument showing that the apostasy had to occur first, then the revealing of the man of lawlessness.

We will spend most of our time discussing the apostasy. This word is highly debated in theological circles. I am not convinced it is critical to the timing of the rapture, but I have spent so much time on it that we will sort through it. It is such a controversy, but I think there are more important things in the grand scheme of things.
