Opioid crisis now a national emergency

Earlier this week President Donald Trump vowed to take a hard line on heroin and opiate addiction in the United State. Many said it didn’t go far enough. The sticking point for many, even his own party was the president’s apparent reluctance to declare a national emergency. Late Thursday afternoon the president declared the opioid crisis a national emergency. The crisis has hit hard in Erie County. The average person to die in Erie County from opioids are white males around the age of 38.
