Now, about this video:

Direwolf wasn’t started to be a bar band, so we didn’t intend to play sets. Only shows, but we divided this night into two parts to benefit the raffle we were hosting for Wolf Park. This video is of that first half of the night.

The night began with me playing a few songs on Gan Welling's acoustic guitar, but unfortunately whoever was filming began halfway through “The Wolf And The Hound” so I started it on the next song which was “Magic Box” which led to Tom and Kev coming in and me switching over to electric to become the first band song of the night, “Sirius Rising”.

I also included the raffle afterward because it not only introduces us to the Wolf Park staff in attendance but we get to see some dear old friends as well. The beloved Beth Stolz was not only bartending that night she can be seen dropping some money into the raffle cup. Then we get to see another dear friend, Terry Sanford win a sweatshirt in the drawing. He even says a few words. Then Kelly Cowger, who was married to a good friend of Tom’s wins a choker in the raffle.

Be forewarned that the video starts out quite dark but gets better. Much better during the music section. The raffle part gets dark again, which sucks, but we’re lucky to have this footage at all.

We have no idea who filmed it or how we ended up with it. Tom discovered the nearly 30-year-old VHS tape and with the help of our good friend Steve Hefleng, we were able to digitize it and preserve it. It’s not perfect but we’re thrilled to have this time capsule from those sunny slopes of long ago.

I will work on trying to present the second part of the night later, but there were more issues with camera work and audio due to the age of the tape and the amount of alcohol consumed by whoever filmed it, but I’ll do my best. I really wanted to get this one to premiere tonight, exactly 30 years to the day after it was filmed. I hope you enjoy it.
