26 Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. 27 And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:26-28 NKJV)

Black Fathers and Lack of Black Leadership

The presence of Black fathers in the home is vitally important to both the family and the community for a multitude of compelling reasons. Fathers play a unique and indispensable role that complements the nurturing and caregiving provided by mothers, creating a balanced and supportive Black family environment.
1. Role Modeling: Fathers serve as powerful role models for their children, particularly their sons. They embody qualities like responsibility, hard work, integrity, and respect. Boys learn how to become men through the examples set by their fathers, providing them with a sense of identity and purpose.
2. Emotional Development: Fathers contribute significantly to their children's emotional development. Their presence fosters emotional security, leading to higher self-esteem and confidence in their offspring. Fathers often encourage their children to take risks, face challenges, and develop resilience.
3. Discipline and Boundaries: Fathers often bring a sense of discipline and structure to the household. Their involvement helps establish boundaries and rules, promoting a sense of order and responsibility within the family.
4. Improved Academic Performance: Studies have consistently shown that children with involved fathers tend to perform better academically. Fathers can provide additional support with homework, engage in stimulating conversations, and encourage a love for learning.
5. Reduced Behavioral Issues: Active fatherhood has been linked to a decrease in behavioral problems in children. Their authoritative presence can deter delinquent behavior, substance abuse, and teenage pregnancies.
6. Enhanced Problem-Solving Skills: Fathers often employ a different problem-solving approach than mothers, providing alternative perspectives for children to learn from. This diversity in parenting styles encourages critical thinking and adaptability.
7. Financial Stability: Fathers often contribute to the family's financial stability. Their financial support ensures that children have access to quality education, healthcare, and extracurricular activities, enhancing their overall well-being.

My point is that Fathers who are engaged in their children's lives often extend their positive influence to the broader community. They participate in community-building activities by becoming role models for other families. This is LACKING within the Black Community.
