Mike DiVicino, aka “Mikey D,” spent 29 years behind bars due to his crimes and alleged ties to the Italian Mafia. He was sentenced to 3 life sentences and described his life behind bars as pure hell yet he refused to join any prison gangs and instead dedicated his life to helping other inmates see that there could be hope and a life beyond the walls if they chose it. We discuss that journey of purpose and survival after the birth of his son who was conceived during a conjugal visit and how he maintained his humanity in such a primal environment.
