Wisdom - Part 5

The lesson on September 17, 2023 was part 5 of the study in “Wisdom”. This lesson covered chapter four of Proverbs. As usual, we reviewed what we learned in the previous lesson from chapter three and proceeded to add what was in Proverbs 3:13 where it is translated happy, which means “oh the blessedness”. There are 8 occurrences of this in Proverbs (Prov. 3:13; 8:32, 34; 14:21; 16:20; 20:7; 28:14, 29:18) where the eighth says Prov. 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” Eight is the number of new beginning and there are also eight notes in music. Wayne shared that there are musicians that have been blessed with the wisdom of music but other areas of their lives are a disaster. This is a reflection of the creativity that God gave man as we are created in the image of God. Chapter four finishes the portion that is from lady wisdom (two chapters, 3 & 4 represents Wisdoms call). Proverbs 4:2 KJV says “For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.” PAul also references good doctrine in the context of the latter days or our calling, in that there will be plenty of bad doctrine (1 Tim. 4:6 KJV). We learned of my sayings in verse 10 but ended with the wisdom from Proverbs 4:20-23 that it is health to all flesh and we are to keep our heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.

The scripture reading was from Proverbs 4:23-27 KJV “23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. 24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. 25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. 26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. 27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.”
