The story of the Battle of Gonzales 1835.

The people of Gonzales, a territory settled by American colonists in what is now Texas, refused to give up their cannon when Mexican President turned dictator, Santa Anna, demanded the people return the cannon. Santa Anna decided to renege on a settlement deal with the people and decided to disarm Texans. When they were told to give up the cannon the people of Gonzales said, “Come and take it!”

Militiamen gathered and protected the territory and ran the Mexican army back south. This was the beginning of the Texas Revolution.
