There are many ways you can play your Sorcerer. There is no "right" and "wrong" way. Everyone has their own play style. It's important to find a rotation that fits your needs. While one rotation might offer up more DPS than the next - there are other things to consider. Are you enjoying your rotation, are you able to pull it off consistently in combat? Etc.

A lot of Lightning players choose Stormwatch as their tactical item. I prefer Elemental Convection. It mixes up the rotation by adding another attack (Volt Rush) and it allows for more Chain Lightning. I also find it increases my overall DPS, especially if I time Chain Lightning to utilize its AOE damage.

There is wiggle room in our rotation thanks to all of the instant hit procs. Don't feel overwhelmed by trying to remember the entire rotation. Certain attacks are grouped together - trying to think of them in segments helped me to remember.

(4) Force Speed makes your next direct Force attack deal 20% more damage and Force attacks deal 20% more damage while Polarity Shift is active.
(6) The duration of Polarity Shift is increased by 5 seconds and using Force Speed reduces the active cooldown of Polarity Shift by 5 Seconds.

Relics
Serendipitous Assault - Healing an ally or performing a damaging attack on an enemy both have a 30% chance to grant (X) power for 6 seconds. This effect can only occur once every 20 seconds.

Focused Retribution - Healing an ally or performing a damaging attack on an enemy both have a 30% chance to grant 945 of your Master Stat for 6 seconds. This effect can only occur once every 20 seconds.

Tactical Item
Elemental Convection - Volt Rush triggers Lightning Storm when activated. Chain Lightning gives you Volt Flux, causing your next Volt Rush to arc to multiple targets for the next 10 seconds.

Combat Proficiencies (9 Points)

Skillful
(1) Sith Defiance (Passive) Increase damage reduction by 3%.
(2) Empty Body (Passive) Increases all healing received by 5%. Does not affect stolen life.
(3) Corrupted Flesh (Passive) Reduces the damage taken from all period effects by 15%.
(4) Tempest Mastery (Passive) Increases the damage dealt by Force Storm by 25%.

Masterful
(5) Suppression (Passive) Activating Cloud Mind grants Suppression, which increases damage reduction by 25% for 6 seconds.
(6) Surging Speed (Passive) Reduces the cool down of Force Speed by 5 seconds, Force Slow by 3 seconds, and Force Barrier by 30 seconds. In addition, Force Speed lasts 0.5 seconds longer, Polarity Shift increases your movement speed by 100% while active, and the active cool down of Force Speed is finished when Force Barrier ends.

Heroic
(7) Emersion (Passive) Force Speed grants Emersion, removing all movement-impairing effects and granting immunity to them for the duration.
(8) Shapeless Spirit (Passive) Reduces all damage taken while stunned by 30%. Additionally, reduces damage taken from area effects by 30%.
(9) Force Mobility (Passive) Thundering Blast, Innervate, and Force Leech may be activated while moving.
